I inadvertently took a summer break for small goals. In no way did I plan this, but it feels appropriate with everyone going back to school to pick them back up – let’s call it Back to Goals. I’m not going to waste energy on lamenting over the missing July and August as Cristina of years past might have. It would appear that the brain-changing experiment I started back in January is working!

Be uncomfortably persistent 3x – I’ve had the pleasure of working with some new talented people inside and outside of work lately who have shown me what you can achieve with persistence. I’m not talking about sales person persistence, but pleasant persistence. I hate being persistent, but this month I want to push through that discomfort and be uncomfortably persistent 3 times and see how far it gets me.

Run my first 5k – I’ve never run an organized 5k or 10k before. I’ve never really understood paying money to run a route that I could run for free any day of the year. Yes, there’s the charity component but I’ve heard most of that money goes towards organizing the run. But I’m putting all that aside this month to try out and just see what all the fuss is about.

DIY myself a mantel – I’ve had this DIY in my brain for years and I have yet to see anyone on the internet actually do it. It’s time I do it. And blog it.

Hang a gallery wall – Another home project that I’ve been sketching out and planning for, I’m embarrassed to say, over 7 years.

Do an apartment tour – I recently had someone take a photo in my apartment that got reposted by a popular Instagram account and no, they did not credit me, but that’s not the point. The point is why haven’t I taken my own photos of my own apartment?

Start my antique glass collection – I just wanted to throw a fun goal in here. Because of my June goal to only shop secondhand for the rest of the year, I’ve found myself spending a lot of time in thrift stores and antique malls lately. I’m always drawn to the Depression Glass, but I can never settle on which color I want to own a set of. Pink? Green? Yellow? I’ve finally decided: I want them all. I want a mismatched collection of antique glass and I want to throw a dinner party and give each person their own unique glass. It’s going to be marvelous.

While I’m practically petrified by the speed with which 2017 is escaping me, I’m excited to round out the year knocking out more small goals and having fun making all of the creative visions I’m forever sketching and dreaming about into reality. And taking pictures of them and sharing them with you here.

Are you getting Back to Goals this month too?
