Last weekend I was going to a summer pool party with a friend when she showed up at my door color blocking like a pro with her wide brimmed hat and straw wedge sandals. She looked right off the set of 90210, and I looked… oddly out of place. I quickly reassessed, tried on 3 more outfits with the help of my dear patient friend and after the 3rd I looked even less pool-ready than when I started. Finally I stopped trying to make fetch happen and went back to my original outfit, a black bikini with a black floral slip dress and a big felt hat. I’m just not very amenable to summer trends.

So I wanted to show you how I dress for summer MY way. On this particular day it was 100+ degrees and I put together my version of summerwear. A surf tee with an ever-so-slight midriff, a breathable jersey skirt instead of my usual black pants, and Olsen-inspired mules circa 2007. Ohh yea and I went through with my threat to become an Asian unicorn with white hair. Because once you blog it, you must follow through. Thoughts?
